Dopamine Dilemma (2024)
Directed by Stan Cho
Dopamine Dilemma is a short film directed by Stan Cho, which was awarded Best International Film and Best Documentary Short at the Zepstone International Film Awards.
The film includes three individuals who struggle with various addictions — it hints that improper dopamine fluctuations are at the biochemical roots of the guilt, shame, and anger we feel when feeding into bad habits.
The film’s tone is undoubtedly grim, but is still optimistic as it reminds us that change is difficult, but fully possible. Moreover, this film attempts to contextualize the seemingly mundane parts of our lives in the hopes that it would help people be more aware of how their choices affect their mood and wellbeing.
